The development team at Mercuriall Audio has released a new free overdrive plugin called Greed Smasher.
The plugin is based on the Mesa Boogie Grid Slammer overdrive pedal.
The free Greed Smasher plugin is available for Mac OS X and Windows in AU, VST, and AAX formats.
This is the second free pedal that Mercuriall Audio has released; the other is the Tubes Creamer 808 Core, an Ibanez TS-808 simulation.
The Greed Smasher plugin can be operated in stereo and mono modes, and it has a low and high quality switch to change between 2x and 4x oversampling.
Unfortunately my computer refuses to install the plugin (Comodo seems to be blocking it) so I haven’t been able to test it, but Mercuriall’s plugins have a good reputation and are known for sounding excellent so it’s worth checking out.
They’re also hinting at the upcoming release of a new “big project”. Perhaps this pedal is a sign that they’re working on other Mesa Boogie gear too…
For the next week Mercuriall is also running a sale on their amp sims, with Spark marked down to $80 and U530 to $39. The sale ends June 20th.

Hi!
Slava from Mercuriall here.
Just wanted to say that Comodo is definitely giving a false positive.
All our products are virus free, of course, and used by many happy customers =)
Thanks,
Slava

Yeah, Comodo is a pain in the ass sometimes. I’ve come close to uninstalling it a few times but gotta have something, I guess. Some devs follow up with these kind of programs to fix the problem though. If Comodo is blocking it some other programs might too.
